Frequently Asked Questions
Pinky Darling Tattoo – Citrine Luna Ltd
Whether it’s your first tattoo or your fiftieth, it’s totally normal to have questions. Here are the answers to the most common things clients ask before booking.
1. Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Yes — but the level of pain varies from person to person.
Most clients describe it as scratchy, irritating, or annoying, rather than unbearable. Some areas are more sensitive (like ribs, armpits), and some feel surprisingly easy (like outer arms and calves).
I’ll always work at a pace that’s comfortable for you, and we can take breaks whenever you need.
2. How do I book an appointment?
You can book by filling out my contact form or by sending me an email to pinky@blackhopetattoo.com or DM on Instagram @pinky_darling_tattoo
Please include your idea, placement, rough size, and any reference images.
A deposit is required to secure your date.
3. What should I do before my tattoo appointment?
To get the best results:
Eat a proper meal
Stay hydrated
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
Moisturise your skin in the days leading up
Get plenty of sleep
Wear comfy clothing that gives me easy access to the area
4. Can you design something custom for me?
Absolutely custom geometric and dotwork designs are my speciality.
We’ll discuss your ideas, preferences, and the flow of the body area so the design complements you perfectly.
5. Can I see my design before the appointment?
I usually show designs on the day, just before we start.
This ensures:
The design is fresh
It fits your body placement properly
We can make adjustments together
You’re always welcome to request tweaks — I want you to absolutely love it.
6. What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Life happens!
Just contact me as soon as possible.
Your deposit is transferable with reasonable notice; last-minute cancellations may mean re-paying your deposit, as I reserve time specifically for you.
7. How should I care for my tattoo afterwards?
You’ll leave with full aftercare instructions and advice tailored to your tattoo.
In general:
Keep it clean
Avoid picking, scratching, or soaking
Avoid sunbeds and swimming
Moisturise lightly
Allow the skin to peel naturally
Use a natural tattoo aftercare, some will be available to purchase in the studio on the day of your appointment.
8. How long does healing take?
Most tattoos take around 2–4 weeks to surface heal, and up to 6–8 weeks for deeper layers.
Dryness, flaking, and itching are completely normal.
9. Do you tattoo darker skin tones?
Yes — all skin tones and healthy skin types are welcome.
I’ll always adjust technique, contrast, and detail to suit your unique skin. Every skin tone holds ink differently, and I tattoo with that knowledge and respect.
10. I have dry/aged/stretch-marked skin — can I still get tattooed?
Absolutely.
Textured skin is normal, and I can work with dry, mature, or stretch-marked skin safely. I’ll assess the area and guide you on what will heal best.
11. Can I use numbing cream?
I don’t recommend numbing creams, as they can have negative effects on healing and the tattoo process.
If you want to use numbing cream, please message me first so I can recommend safe options. Some products can affect how the skin takes ink, so we’ll choose the right one for you.
12. Do you take card payments?
Yes — I accept both card and cash.
13. Can I bring a friend?
For hygiene and focus, I kindly ask that you come alone unless previously agreed.
Don’t worry — the studio is calm, friendly, and you’ll be fully supported throughout.
14. Are tattoos safe?
Yes — when done by a licensed tattooist in a fully registered studio.
I follow strict hygiene practices, single-use needles, medical-grade cleaning procedures, and complete skin assessments before we begin.
15. Will you refuse a tattoo idea?
Occasionally, yes — if the design won’t heal well, isn’t suitable for the placement, is offensive, or goes against my style.
If so, I’ll always guide you toward something that does work.
